(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) — DHS is pleased to announce Gavin Lesnick as the Department’s new Deputy Chief of Communications. Lesnick assumed his role with the agency on Monday, March 29, 2021.
“Gavin understands how important it is that departments like ours communicate clearly with our clients and the public and brings with him a great deal of knowledge about how to do that using digital platforms and new technologies,” said Amy Webb, Chief of Communications. “I am excited that he’s joined our team.”
Lesnick comes to the Department of Human Services from the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) where he has served as the director of public information for a year. Prior to his work with ADH, Lesnick worked for the Arkansas Democrat Gazette for more than 10 years as a reporter and a senior editor of online content.
Lesnick earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Indiana University in 2006 and has won industry awards for his work including a first-place Diamond Award for best specialized website as well as first-and second-place awards for digital storytelling from Arkansas Associated Press Managing Editors Association; his work has also been featured in many publications and broadcasts including ABC World News Tonight, WashingtonPost.com, ESPN.com, and People Magazine.
