Meet the Chief Procurement Officer
Sarah Cunningham serves as the Chief Procurement Officer for the Office of Procurement (OP), a shared services office within DHS. In this capacity, Sarah manages the administration of the Office of Procurement. This office advises Divisions on purchasing services and commodities, and offers other services related to central office facilities, including overseeing the DHS warehouse and print shop.
Before joining DHS in 2020, Sarah worked in the private sector for a local consulting firm that produced large events across the country for businesses and non-profits. While working, she attended law school in the evenings until she obtained her law degree. She then clerked for a state circuit judge before serving as a Deputy Prosecutor for the 20th Judicial District.
Sarah began her journey at DHS in the legal department, acting as general counsel to the Division of Youth Services. Later, she transitioned to serve as general counsel for the Office of Procurement. She continued in this role until her appointment as Chief Procurement Officer in 2023.
Sarah completed her undergraduate studies at Hendrix College and earned her Juris Doctor from the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law. She volunteers with the Junior League of Little Rock. Sarah and her husband, William, are proud parents to three energetic boys. In her leisure time, Sarah enjoys baking, hiking, and exploring the outdoors in Arkansas’s beautiful state parks with her family.
