Finding a job brings purpose, meaning, and economic independence, which can lead to better health. That’s why DHS will launch a community engagement and work requirement for certain beneficiaries who receive Medicaid through ARHOME.
This means you will need to work, volunteer, or take classes for a minimum of 20 hours per week (80 hours per month) to keep your benefits beginning on January 1, 2027. DHS will launch a soft implementation of the requirement starting July 1, 2026, but no penalties will be in effect until Jan. 1., 2027.
If you or someone you know is between the ages of 19 and 64 and is served by ARHOME, the work and community engagement requirement may affect your benefits. More details about the changes will be shared soon, but the best thing to do now is make sure you can receive important updates and other information.
