Emergency Shelters: Safe Havens for Youth in Urgent Need
Emergency shelters are a critical frontline resource for youth facing immediate danger, homelessness, or family crises. The Division of Youth Services (DYS) partners with emergency shelter providers throughout Arkansas who offer temporary, trauma-informed care that protects young people during times of transition — all while helping prevent entry into state custody.
If you operate a youth-focused emergency shelter and don’t see your organization listed here, we’d love to hear from you. DYS is committed to expanding this vital network of support to ensure that every youth has a safe place to turn when the unexpected happens.
For caseworkers, school staff, law enforcement, or family members — if you know of a shelter in Arkansas that helps youth but isn’t shown here, please tell us. Even one referral could mean safety for a child tonight.
Together, we can make sure that “nowhere to go” is never the end of the road.
