Created in 2016, Ecoworks is a nonprofit recycling facility housed within the Jonesboro Human Development Center (JHDC) that offers 24/7 drop-off and scheduled pickup services for anyone in the local community. Ecoworks processes recycling for the City of Jonesboro and provides training and employment for about 60 adult residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Residents get the opportunity to earn an income while developing vocational skills such as:
- Sorting recyclable materials
- Operating machinery
- Workstation management
- Cleaning
- Stocking
- Time management
- Money management
- Plant husbandry
- Gardening
Services
24/7 Public Drop-off – Recyclable materials can be dropped off at any time in the four bins under the covered shed. Please do not drop off materials if the bins are full.
Scheduled Pickups – Free pickup of recyclable materials is available for businesses in Jonesboro.
Confidential Paper Shredding – Secure disposal of sensitive documents is also available.
Accepted Materials
- All types of cardboard (broken down and collapsed)
- White office paper
- Aluminum and steel cans
- #1 and #2 plastics
- Computers, phones, printers, electric motors, cords (anything powered by electricity)
- Small amounts of scrap metal (must be movable by one person)
