Criminal Background Check Revised Process
The Criminal Bacground Check process was modified as a result of an audit by the FBI and the Arkansas State Police (ASP), and is effective January 1, 2019. Among the significant changes are:
- All state criminal background checks must be done through the ASP online system. If your facility does not have an online account, you may obtain one through the Information Network of Arkansas (INA).
- Federal background check requests on applicants or employees that are not eligible for a federal check will be returned to the facility. Please see the reglations below for information about which individuals are not eligible for a federal background check.
- Incomplete applications for a federal background check will be returned to the facility.
- Providers will no longer be provided the results of a federal background check; this is not permitted by the FBI.
