Three Teens Run from Harrisburg Facility

Law enforcement are searching for three youth committed to the Harrisburg Juvenile Treatment Center who ran from the facility Thursday shortly before noon, according to officials with the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS). Nearby residents and families of the youths have been notified.

Dwight Jackson, 16, Christian Sullivan, 16, and Darrell Dixon, 16, had been placed in custody of the Department of Human Services Division of Youth Services (DYS) for felony offenses. Jackson is an African-American male, 5 foot-9 inches tall, with brown eyes and black hair. Sullivan is an African-American male, 6 foot-2 inches, with brown eyes and black hair. Dixon is an African-American male, 5 foot-6 inches tall, with brown eyes and black hair. Arkansas Code Annotated 9-28-215 requires DHS to notify the public of such incidents if the youth could have been charged as an adult at the time he or she was committed to DYS.

The three were walking with a group of youth and a staff member to class after completing tutoring when they ran into nearby woods. The center is not fenced, and youth are permitted to walk the campus under supervision.

DYS will investigate the incident and take any necessary action. Anyone with information about the boys’ whereabouts should contact local law enforcement.
