Here are what some former DHS Fellows for Public Service had to say about the program.
The fellowship program was a
great opportunity for professional growth. I was able to make useful
professional connections across Arkansas. I gained a great understanding of how
the government agencies work together. At the conclusion of the fellowship, I
was even offered a job at DHS where I continue to use several of the skills I
learned during the fellowship in my position today.
The DHS fellowship gave me the opportunity to develop my skills in program management and strategic planning. Working with DCSNS was a great opportunity into the humanitarian and nonprofit world. I am so grateful for the opportunity to develop my skills in the area I am most passionate about.
Participation in DHS Fellows for Public Service was invaluable experience. As a law student, I began to look into nontraditional ways to utilize my education and skills. Through the DHS Fellowship for Public Service, I gained policy, implementation and project management skills that other law students do not possess. This fellowship afforded me real life upper management experience and developed skills that I’m sure to continue using in my career.
