The Division of Community Service & Nonprofit Support (DCSNS) strengthens community resources, volunteerism and national service in Arkansas. We have been offering training, consulting, and information to all Arkansans since 1974 and we are the oldest state office of volunteerism in the nation.
Act 42 of 2011, changed our name from the Division of Volunteerism to the Division of Community Service & Nonprofit Support.
Family Volunteer Day is a national day of service that celebrates the power of families who work together to support their communities and neighborhoods. Volunteering is a great way for kids and adults to make new friends, develop compassion for their neighbors, and even pick up a new skill or two! It’s an amazing day – don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!
The service theme for November is Veterans and Military. This year families will have three ways to get involved and celebrate military service in Arkansas.
1 - Put your boots on the ground and get your hands dirty with the Central Arkansas Family Volunteer Day project at the Eugene J. Towbin Veterans Healthcare Center in North Little Rock.
2 - Organize a drive at your school, church, or neighborhood to collect needed items for hygiene, recreation, or winter kits. Request a toolkit to see a list of specific items.
3 - Thank a veteran or service member with a handmade greeting card.
