The Arkansas Behavioral Health Planning and Advisory Council (ABHPAC) was established to monitor, review and evaluate the distribution and adequacy of mental health services in Arkansas. The Council is composed of advocates, providers, consumers, family members and representatives of state and private agencies who advise the Division of Behavioral Health Services, state legislature, and governor. Members are responsible for the oversight of a multi-million dollar mental health block grant.
ABHPAC promotes a strong community based system of care for families with adults and children who have serious mental illnesses or emotional problems. The Council recognizes the need to use available resources in the best possible ways to reach that goal.
Purpose: The Council gathers statistical data from the mental health delivery systems as well as information from representatives of state and private agencies, providers, consumers and advocates to provide oversight of mental health services and input regarding public mental health policy, regulations, planning, priorities and allocation of resources.
Membership: Membership of ABHPAC is comprised of members of regional councils. Membership now stands at 49. ABHPAC welcomes new members. Arkansas is divided into five regions. Regional meetings are held every two months and alternate with state meetings.
Invitation: ABHPAC invites you to consider membership in this important organization. Your knowledge, experience and insight are vital to the achievement of our goals. We seek a variety of viewpoints to be sure we consider the needs of all.
