Last night, Congress passed a budget bill that allows the federal government to reopen. As a result, all furloughed DHS employees should return to work beginning Thursday, Oct. 17.
For service providers
DHS has notified providers directly if their contracts are affected by the government shutdown.
Funding for DHS programs such as Medicaid, ARKids First, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), waiver services for people with developmental disabilities and private intermediate care facilities will continue. Funding also will continue for all 24-hour DHS facilities, such as the State Hospital and the human development centers.
